France Cliche is the winemaker behind LE MAS DES PATRIOTES, located in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu in the Montérégie region.
France is an inspiring woman of many talents and interests. She has a great appreciation for nature, authenticity, heritage and art – and a passion for good food and fine wine. Her journey as a vintner began in 2013, when she gave her husband (who had always dreamed of owning a winery) some grapevines for Father’s Day.
In the end, it was France who got the project off the ground by restoring a small abandoned farm in the historic L’Acadie district of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and planting the first hectare of grapevines on the land. The learning curve was steep, but with tenacity, courage and determination, she was able to achieve her goal of producing a quality wine she was proud of.
The winery has since expanded to five hectares of organically grown grapes – both French and American hybrids as well as Vitis vinifera. France is well on her way of realizing her vision of producing white wines teeming with elegance and finesse.
