Myth #4 – There are very few vineyards in Quebec.
That’s completely false! Over the past 40 years, Quebec’s wine industry has seen steady growth. Around 165 producers hold artisanal wine production permits in Quebec. In 2022, 3.1 million bottles were produced, with 1,000 hectares of vineyards dedicated to wine grape cultivation.

Myth #5 – Quebec grape varieties are not the same as elsewhere.
This is not entirely true nor entirely false. Quebec does grow some grape varieties found elsewhere in the world, such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. However, Quebec’s vineyards also feature a wide range of cold-hardy grape varieties, which contribute to their richness and uniqueness!

Myth #8: In Quebec, the growing season is too short to make good wine.
That’s completely false! With grape varieties adapted to our local climate and a favorable growing season that allows our grapes to reach excellent levels of maturity, we are able to produce outstanding wines!

Myth #9: The Quebec wine industry is too young, and everything still needs to be built.
That’s true when compared to the rest of the world, but for over 40 years, passionate winemakers have been working hard to develop it. A promising new generation is building on their experience and shaping the vineyard of tomorrow.
