Maison agricole Joy Hill

In 2017, Julien Niquet and Justine Therrien set up their vineyard at the top of “Joy Hill” in Frelighsburg, a name that simply means “the coast of joy.” And it is there, at the top of the coast, that the couple simmers their wines, with the hope of bringing joy to lovers of good juice!

On the 7 cultivated hectares of the estate grow 37,000 vines of vinifiera, only European grape varieties: Grüner Veltliner, Blaufränkisch, Gamay, Gamaret, Melon de Bourgogne, Pinot Blanc, Riesling and Chardonnay. In the field, Justine pampers the vines, working in organic farming. The vineyard is even in conversion to biodynamics. Julien takes care of the cellar, where the wines are made in a non-interventionist way, as naturally as possible. The wines are unfiltered and no sulphite is added, when possible.

Their careful work was highlighted in 2021, when they were named among the best Quebec vineyards in Canada’s 100 Best.
