Criteria

  • Produce your wine in Quebec, within the geographical area defined for the PGI.

  • Be a producer of still, sparkling and / or sweet wines.

  • Possess an artisanal production permit.

  • Produce at least 50% of the total weight of the fresh grapes or must used in the preparation of the product(s).

The conditions required to obtain the designation

  • No non-compliance reported during the inspection.

  • Chemical analysis results that meet the canadian food standards.

  • A product validated by our approval committee.

  • Labeling that meets the required requirements.

  • In a nut shell, « conformité » is the watchword!

The inspector observes whether your product development process meets the required requirements (vines, winemaking, storage, labeling, register and documentation).

The inspection report is analyzed and a decision is issued. You now have 30 days to present an adjusted action plan. Corrections must be implemented before the certification of the final product(s).

Send your product sample to a recognized laboratory. PGI chemical analyzes are carried out.

For each of your wines, present to our approval committee a sample of the final product, your chemical analysis in accordance with PGI standards and your signed technical sheet.

Before printing, provide all of your labels and labeled packaging to Ecocert Canada to confirm their compliance.

To obtain the IGP designation for one of your wines, you must first request a quote from Ecocert:

 

Renewal: To renew your PGI designation, you have until October 15 of each year to complete the document. To do this, it is the Ecocert certifier who communicates directly with the winegrowers who already have PGI wines.
